This program is best suited for all language learners, but especially for those who have trouble with pronunciation. For some pronunciation is the hardest part of learning a language and the only thing keeping them from speaking freely in their target language.
How will it help me?
This program is a series of CDs or cassette tapes (depending on what the language is available in) and an accompanying book. The book follows along with each lesson of the program.
Each lesson begins by introducing a pronunciation topic, explaining how it is pronounced, and used in several examples. It covers every type of pronunciation in your target language imaginable.
What is its best feature?
The best feature of this program is its efficiency. Instead of simply stating a few key points and ending with a couple examples, it gives every possible way to pronounce a letter or group of letters. Each is explained very well and followed up with several words as real examples.
How should it be used?
This program is perfect to go through in the beginning of your language studies. You can work through each language, maybe doing each one 2 or 3 times before moving onto the language, until you’ve completed the whole book. Once you’ve finished it and feel confident, you can continue to refer back to it when you get stuck.
If you have been studying your target language for a while and you feel uneasy with your pronunciation, it’s not too late to go through it now. No matter how advanced you are, you will probably improve your pronunciation.
How much does it cost?
Pronounce it perfectly is very reasonably priced between $13 and $20 depending on which language you choose.
Is it worthwhile?
There are very few language learning programs that are specifically geared towards only pronunciation. For those that are taking classes or have a tutor, you can check with them on your pronunciation, but for those studying on your own, this is a huge help. Even in class, sometimes you can’t get the one-on-one attention.
This program is definitely worth going through and studying thoroughly, especially if you want to speak like a native.
Conclusion
I don’t know where I would be with my French pronunciation right now without this book. It’s just as good, if not better, than having your own tutor, and it’s a whole lot cheaper and much more convenient.
