How to Learn Any Language Quickly, Easily, Inexpensively, Enjoyably, and on your own

How to learn any language quickly, easily, inexpensively, enjoyably, and on your own by Barry Farber

This is, by far, my favorite foreign language book of all time.  It’s perfect for everyone because it can be used no matter what language you are learning.

On the back of the book it states,

“Barry Farber has been a true adventurer in languages for forty-six years and can speak in twenty-five tongues.  The techniques he presents in How to learn any language will have you speaking, reading, writing, and enjoying any foreign language you want to learn – or have to learn – in a surprisingly short time.

Without beating your head against verb conjugations or noun declensions, you can follow Farber’s principles and glide toward proficiency in your chosen language.  His method consists of four ground-breaking but simple concepts hailed by language-teaching professionals…”

Before I picked up a copy of this I studied the amazon reviews; I didn’t want to waste my money.  This book was perfect at only $11 at the time, I didn’t feel at all like I wasted my money when I bought it.

He starts the book with his background in language learning.  I found it very interesting and inspiring.  I wish I could have learned as many languages as he has!

Next, he moves through his system.  He talks about choosing a language, the tools you will need, The Multiple-Track Attack, how to take advantage of hidden moments, a memory aid, motivation, and much more.

He even includes in the end appendixes that include a list of the Principle languages of the world and his own review of many languages.

Most of all I found this book to be motivational.  I’ve spent a lot of time rereading my favorite parts.  Whenever I start to get frustrated with the language I am learning, I flip through this book.  It will really pump you up when you want to learn a language.

It is packed with motivation, but even better, it gives you a killer technique to follow.  He encourages you to go beyond your basic school learning techniques and shows you how you can really become fluent.  I use a lot of the techniques that he introduced to me and I have been able to expand on them.

Overall, if there is one book you must get, it’s this one.  I highly recommend it!  If you hate learning languages, read this and you’ll want to learn every language there is!
