Who is it best suited for?
This series is suited for the absolute beginner to the intermediate learner. Throughout the book it translates several of the new words in the margins. In the beginning, it uses a lot of cognates and easy words so that even the beginner will get it without having to look up every word.
How will it help me?
The aspect of learning a language completely that this book won’t help you with is listening. It covers everything else. You will learn new words and vocabulary, strengthen your reading comprehension, and improve your speaking and writing comprehension through the questions at the end.
What is its best feature?
The best feature of this book is that it is simple. By reading, you will quickly improve your language skills, but in the beginning when you know nothing, reading a French newspaper will do little for you as compared to this book. The ending questions are key to this text because they keep you thinking and engaged.
How should it be used?
This book is great used as supplemental reading. You can use on a day of just reading or read a little everyday.
In order to get the most out of it, make sure you think about what you are reading and how the sentences are constructed. Respond as constructively as possible especially by answering aloud the questions at the end. To practice writing, you may want to write down your answers as well.
How much does it cost?
This is another great and very inexpensive learning tool for under $9. It can’t be beat!
Is it worthwhile?
This text is definitely worth your time. Include this with your listening material and textbook, and your comprehension will go through the roof in no time.
Conclusion
This is one of my favorite books. I was very surprised and pleased by how easy it was in the beginning and even more pleased at how the difficulty progressed. As you go through it, you will really fell like you are learning something.
