Keep a journal in your language
Using the language you are trying to learn on a regular basis is important when studying a foreign language. This can be difficult if you don’t know anyone that speaks the language, but you don’t have to be speaking to be using it.
Writing is a great way to practice a language, and keeping an informal journal is perfect for it. If you feel like you don’t know enough to write a story or an essay, you don’t have to. Write whatever comes to your head.
You don’t even need to make sense because it’s just a journal. If you’ve only learned how to say 5 nouns and 2 verbs, just try to arrange those into sentences, whether they make sense or not.
Usually when you think of journals, you think about writing what happens to you every day or how you feel emotionally. You can use this definition to your advantage. Try to write something every day, even if it’s just 1 or 2 sentences. As you get better and better, you will find yourself rambling on as though it was your native tongue.
If you are creative, you might take it even further and write stories and poetry. Just write and practice your skills.
If you fell comfortable speaking where you are, try to say what you’re writing aloud as you write so that you can practice your speed and pronunciation as well.
Every little bit that you can do to practice your foreign language will add to your skills and ability in that language. Writing in a journal is a perfect addition.
