Conjugating French Verbs

A sentence isn’t a sentence without a verb.  If you ever want to be understood, you must master the verbs.  The hardest part about French verbs is the translation, but beyond that, they aren’t difficult.

The verb être

We will discuss how to use the verb être which means to be.  You use the verb to be probably more than any other verb.  I am, you are, we are, she is, it is, etc.  these are all forms of the verb to be.  You probably couldn’t count how many times you’ve used it today.

We will discuss the present tense of the verb être as well as the past tense.  If you know both of these tenses of this verb and some vocabulary words, you should be able to start communicating right away.

French pronouns

I am sure you know what they are, in fact, we use them all the time.  Pronouns make speaking a language much easier.  You don’t have to continuously use the proper noun such as names of people and places.  By simply using I, you, we, or other pronouns, you can speak more quickly and fluidly.

We will show you the different French pronouns and how to use them.

Regular and Irregular Verbs

Lucky for you, there are many regular French verbs.  These regular verbs are all used the same way which makes them easy to learn and understand.

Unfortunately there are some verbs that don’t follow the rules that are called irregular verbs.  These have different endings and often change in different tenses as well.

We will discuss both regular and irregular verbs and how to use them.

Verb Tenses

Imagine a language with just one tense.

I can only see frustration and a lack of communication.

You need to be able to say when something happens.  Maybe it happened yesterday, is happening now, or will happen tomorrow.  The only way to do this is with different verb tenses.

We will discuss several different French verb tenses so that you can gain a solid understand and begin communicating in many different circumstances.

Verbs are a foundation in every language that you must master!
